Spending holidays

I think spending your holidays doing the research of your own choice is so fun. So, whenever I told that to my fellow (Thai) grads, I expected the words "Cool" not "You should take a break.". If he/she does not enjoy doing research, then he/she should has a better life outside grad school. Why did he/she enter grad school in the first place?
